Brush-Rug Cleaning Including Wool and Silk Rugs

!±8± Brush-Rug Cleaning Including Wool and Silk Rugs

Brush-rug-cleaning equipment with rug cleaning products running at 175rpm's is what I use. First I pre-spray all traffic lanes with a 2gal. Spray-tank with a good traffic lane solution. Then the carpet cleaning solutions are applied either to the brush or sprayed onto the carpets and rugs as work advances until all areas are done.

Wool rug cleaning if dry powder is used I apply it to a moist rug. The solution is then agitated into the rug which absorbs the soil. After ample drying time the rug is vacuumed to remove the dirt together with the rug cleaning products. This technique works good for wool rug cleaning for the reason that it needs less water.

Silk rug cleaning if dry powder is used apply it entirely onto the rugs. The powder is then agitated into the rug which absorbs the soil. After ample time I vacuumed the rug to remove the dirt together with the rug cleaning products. This technique works good for silk rug cleaning for the reason that it needs no water.

A few steps to remember are listed here for your reference.

Remove as much furniture as possible or move to one side.

Vacuum the carpet in two different directions as to remove as much dirt as possible.

After all furniture has been returned, it is best to place carpet protectors under all furniture legs. I use small pre-cut tin foils sheets and either let the client know they can be removed after the carpet is dry or I will inform them know that I will stop by in 3 days to do it.

Before leaving I find it is a good business practice to leave all customers with a full year discount coupon which is good for any additional work.

As a final step, use a carpet rake to remove all of your footprints in a pattern as if you were painting the floor and work your way on out of the room.

Carpet Cleaning Do's and Don'ts - The Tricks You Need To Know!

!±8± Carpet Cleaning Do's and Don'ts - The Tricks You Need To Know!

Okay, so you need to clean those filthy carpets of yours. It's been literally years since anyone cleaned them the RIGHT way, right? Well, you came to the right place. You can take years of filth off your carpets the easy way...just use a carpet cleaner.

But before you grab your carpet cleaner and get to town, there are a few simple Do's and Don'ts you should be aware of before starting.

#1) DO: Vacuum To Keep Your Carpet Happy~

Even though you plan on cleaning your carpet with a carpet cleaner, you should still be regularly vacuuming your home with a vacuum cleaner. There are just some things a carpet cleaner can't handle as well as a vacuum, like getting up all the hair balls, or pieces of paper you may have lying around in clumps.

Better yet, pick those up by hand. But you see where I'm going with this, don't you? The cleaner the carpet is to begin with, the better your carpet cleaner will do! Yup, it's that simple.

#2) DO: Plan For It~

Taking on a whole house carpet cleaning job is no easy task. You need to usually move all the furniture out of the way, and make room for it to really get down deep and clean all of your carpeting.
You may choose to do this during spring cleaning, or say during a long holiday you have off from work. Whatever time schedule works best for you, you need to plan for it. The more you plan, the easier the process will truly be.

You also need to coordinate with the other members of the family, and have everyone pitch in to help! Make it a fun family affair.

#3) DON'T: Use Any Cleaning Shampoo You Want!

Carpets can be finicky creatures. They like the soap that they like, and they don't like any others. Get me? So be sure to pick out only a truly carpet cleaning type of solution to use, and please don't just toss in your "Head & Shoulders" shampoo, and think that will help get more of the dust out. It doesn't work that way.

Ask the store or a professional carpet cleaning rep to tell you what works best in the machine you are using. And don't forget that more is not always better.

You need to use the right quantity of the shampoo as well, and don't put in extra thinking that will help. It won't. It will just help you to a huge mess.

#4) DON'T: Pull Up Your Carpeting's Loose Fibers~

I know it may be extremely temping to want to pull on those little hairs sticking out of your carpet...they are so cute, and who can resist wanting to pull it out to make things neat again, right? Well, as much as you may want to do that, please don't.

Eventually you will have a big, gaping hole in that section, and you don't want that. It would be best to just cut the top part off with scissors, rather than pulling out the entire strand by hand.

#5) DON'T: Leave Your Furniture Where It Is~

You need to actually MOVE your furniture out of the way if you want to clean the carpeting under it. Seems simple enough, but you would be surprised just how many people think they can just clean "around" all their belongings, and that all their carpeting will be magically sparkling clean.
To do a really great job of carpet cleaning in your home, you really need to move your things out of the way when you are cleaning the carpets. You will be happy you did the extra bit of work for years down the line. A little extra effort can go a long way when it comes to giving your carpets a little bit of love.

#6) DO: Hire a Pro!

Okay, I said it. Sometimes it's just best to toss your cares into the wind and say "I just don't want to deal with this crap". Carpet cleaning may be one of those times. If you want someone professional to come in with their heavy duty equipment and shampoos, and deal with the mess themselves, you are in luck.

There are literally HUNDREDS of carpet cleaning services out there these days. Just open your phone book, look online, or go to your local classified ads and you will find tons of people willing to do this for you. The only thing you should be sure of is that they have certification from "Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration", and also be sure to ask just how much experience they really have on the job or if they offer any guarantees.

So there you have it. Those are the Do's and Don'ts you really want to be aware of before starting your next carpet cleaning job. You don't have to thank me. Just knowing you won't be filling your entire home from top to bottom with FOAM because you filled your carpet cleaner with doggie shampoo is thanks enough.

Creative Target Markets For Your House Cleaning Business

!±8± Creative Target Markets For Your House Cleaning Business

A residential home business is a great small business to own because there are often low start up costs and low overhead costs. If you are running a residential home business, then you may find it difficult to get new clients, especially if you are new to the business. There are basic ways of marketing that work for residential home businesses that many of these types of businesses use, such as newspaper advertisements and flyers.

If you are working to expand your business, then you may try and target markets that do not normally use cleaning services, but may be willing to try. Here are two creative markets that house cleaning services do not often target.

* College Students / College Apartments
If you live in a college town, then you will likely have a lot of college students who live in apartments and homes nearby. Every semester there will likely be a huge buzz around these apartments of college students moving in and out. Many students will be busy with final and packing and may not be too concerned about cleaning up their apartment to get their deposit back, this is where you can shine. It may be a great idea to canvas the area with flyers around that time and offer a student discount. If you can speak to apartment managers who take care of buildings that house a lot of students, then maybe you can ask him or her if you can post flyers at the front office or place in advertisement on their bulletin board. This can give you a great boost in business throughout the year.

* The Busy Holiday Crowd
If you are often slow around the holidays, then you may start using that to your advantage. During the holidays, many families will be hosting parties and get togethers with friends. Also, many families may have house guests for the weekend or over the holidays. With so much going on, a lot of busy families may need a house cleaning service to help prepare their home. You can target the big need for these folks. Make out specific flyers that drum up the idea that the holidays are going to hectic and taking one chore off of the list can be a lifesaver. By targeting a specific need, you may find that new clients are calling you just because of wanting to delegate the chore of cleaning the house.

Once your business starts receiving new clients from untapped markets, it's important to keep these new clients happy. Offer coupons for the next house cleaning or offer them a discount for their next cleaning if they refer a friend. If you are marketing to the busy holiday crowd, then capitalize on it and offer them an after-party cleaning discount. Give them free stuff like pens, pencils, magnets - anything that will keep your house cleaning business in their mind. It takes a lot of energy to gain new customers, so make sure all you pull out all the stops to keep them. Aside from the target markets above, what other types of clients would be beneficial to target in your local area?
